ProStor makes a removable hard disk drive archive appliance, the InfiniVault, which is now generally available.

It uses the company's RDX technology which encases hard drives in a shock-resistant packaging and enables drives to be removed and stored off-site in the same way as tape cartridges from automated tape devices or optical disks from a jukebox. Designed to replace tape, RDX disk products provide the performance and reliability of disk while preserving the removability and archival benefits of tape.

Customers get a digital archive and compliance product that combes long-term data retention, regulatory compliance, automated data archiving and disaster recovery protection in a single, easy-to-use appliance with disk access speeds. The InfiniVault product family is available in configurations designed for use in small and mid-sized enterprises.

ProStor’s integrated Archive Compliance Engine provides a complete audit trail for every file to create a chain of custody report, while content addressable storage functionality verifies all content to ensure the integrity of the data. The combination of flexible retention management, WORM throughout the system for unalterable files, data encryption to meet privacy requirements and digital “shredding” for secure file deletion makes the InfiniVault a simple, automated compliance solution for most government regulations.

Additionally, the rapid file search and recovery enabled by the RDX removable disk technology meets the requirements of Federal Rules of Civil Procedures in legal holds and e-discovery. Privacy is assured with InfiniVault managing all encryption keys associated with each individual file.

A customer spokesperson, Steve Calderoni, director of IT at Market Force Information, a global customer experience information and insights company, said: “We have been pleased with the deployment of ProStor’s InfiniVault into our Georgia data center. We determined that 70 percent of our mystery shopping receipts could be immediately archived to InfiniVault, helping us streamline our operations, optimize client services and meet legal and e-discovery requests that might arise.”

Steve Georgis, CEO and president of ProStor Systems. “By harnessing the benefits of a fixed-disk archive solution with that of removable media, we offer users the best of both worlds – ultimate performance, rapid retrieval, unlimited scalability and a preferred price point.”

InfiniVault products are sold through ProStor's resale channel.
