Nice award

Jim McCluney, Emulex' CEO and president, has won an award as CEO of the year from the Technology Council of Southern California.

He was awarded the top spot because of his success in diversifying the company and leading Emulex to its ninth consecutive year of revenue growth, and also for his role in advancing technological innovation in Southern California.

Catrina Luedtke, executive director of The Technology Council of Southern California, said: "With a successful strategy for growth and diversification based on two acquisitions, Jim McCluney has guided Emulex to expand into new markets, ensure innovation, and accelerate revenue growth."

Emulex bought switch technology supplier Vixel in 2003 and Arohi in 2006. Arohi made Intelligent Storage Processor (ISP) chips and software. It is used this to help OEMs develop storage application platforms that can provide the equivalent of SAN fabric intelligence for IP SANs. The ISP-based boxes sit in front of the storage drive arrays or in front of servers, particularly blade servers.

The "CEO of the Year" award is presented to the CEO of a technology company headquartered in Southern California that has been in operation at least five years, and receives the highest aggregate ratings in sales growth, job growth in Southern California, profitability, product innovation, industry trade organizations, legislative activities pertinent to the technology industry, and community and industry
involvement.
