Symantec to use Autonomy software
posted on 07 April 2008 11:13
Data protection supplier Symantec has signed a new OEM license deal with enterprise content search company Autonomy for its software technology.
Symantec is a security software and data protection (backup) software company, also offering system management software, and this OEM agreement confirms its need to broaden its enterprise content management offerings.
We might envisage Symantec as building its offerings to better compete with EMC's enterprise content and security offerings, based upon its Documentum and RSA products.
Currently Symantec ships Autonomy's KeyView module with its Mail Security products.
The deal further strengthens Autonomy's reputation for enterprise search-related products.
Neither company has released any further information.
