After introducing coloured My Passport Elite portable external storage Western Digital has announced 10 new colours for its My Passport Essentials line.
The Essentials line has sync software to synchronise PC and Passport drive files plus Passport drive contents are encrypted using a 128-bit scheme. The Elite line adds backup software, remote access, a capacity gauge to show free space and a soft touch finish for the surface.
WD's Jim Welsh, VP and GM for its branded products and consumer electronics groups, waxes lyrical about the colours: "Our striking new colour selection gives our customers an opportunity to express their unique style, while securely storing and carrying the massive amounts of rich content generated by higher resolution cameras, HD videos and music,"
The new colours include: brilliant orange, super sunny yellow, raindrop blue, arctic white, deep viola, cherry red, ultra mint, real red, intense blue, and vibrant pink.
They are are more vibrant than the somewhat muted My Passport Elite colours but that line's soft touch finish is to blame for that.
The 160GB My Passport Essentials product costs £66.99 ($119.99), the 250GB version £96.99 ($149.99), and the 320GB one £119.99 ($179.99).
