COPAN Systems Continues Asia Pacific Expansion; Opens Office in Seoul, Korea
posted on 25 April 2008 09:11
London, UK – 25th April 2008 - COPAN Systems the industry leader in cost-effective storage solutions for the protection and management of persistent data, today announced that it has opened a new APAC regional office in Seoul, Korea.
The new location is the third office that COPAN Systems has opened in the region in the last six months.
Daniel Kim joins COPAN Systems as country manager, South Korea and will assume responsibility for business operations in Seoul. He will be based in Seoul and his role will report in to Martin Darling, Vice President Asia Pacific and Japan, COPAN Systems.
Daniel joins from Acopia Networks where he was responsible for starting and running the company’s Korean business. Daniel brings with him 10 years experience in the storage industry, having also held a variety of sales and management positions with EMC and NetApp.
Daniel says, “In Korea, we have a very dynamic and sophisticated business sector and remarkable degrees of innovation – our economy climbed ten places to claim the number nine spot out of 127 in this years’ World Economic Forum annual global information technology report. We aim to take full advantage of these economic strengths.”
Uniquely optimised for persistent data, COPAN Systems' enhanced MAID platform has unparalleled energy efficiency credentials. MAID only powers up drives when requested by the application and ensures no more than 25 percent of the densely packed drives are ever turned on at the same time. This enables customers to reduce power and cooling costs by at least 75 percent and significantly increase the life of the disks. Customers of COPAN Systems’ MAID technology also benefit from unparalleled storage density and physical space saving in the data centre. A COPAN chassis takes up 85.6 TB/sq ft of space, into which customers can mount up to 856 disk drives - making it the only solution of its kind.
“With existing offices in Singapore, Japan and Beijing - and nine others outside the APJ region – we selected Seoul to further extend our global footprint,” says Mark Ward, COPAN Systems CEO. “In Korea, reflective of the current storage market climate across the world, there is a focus currently on ‘green storage’ solutions that enhance energy efficiency. By bringing our third generation enterprise class MAID (Massive Array of Idle Disks) technology to market, COPAN Systems is enabling organisations to address these pain points quickly and efficiently.”
COPAN Systems’ new office is located at 30F ASEM Tower, 159-1 Samsung-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Korea.
COPAN Systems announced the opening of its Beijing, China office on 24th April 2008.
