Being first can mean zilch in some cases

QLogic announces in a release that it is 'First to Demonstrate HBA Technology Working with Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008.'

Wow; that's fast. Competitor Emulex can only claim that it 'Announces Support for Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008.'

Only QLogic isn't actually demonstrating its HBA technology really works with Microsoft's absurdly long titled Virtual Machine Manager product. It's actually demonstrated that it works with a beta version of the product.

So both Emulex and QLogic are in the same position. Their HBAs deliver real time information to the Microsoft product so it can vary the allocation of Hyper-V or VMware virtual machines to physical servers and create and delete virtual HBA ports.
