Jump from 300 to 500GB RDX cartridges

Removable hard drive cartridge supplier ProStor has upgraded cartridge capacity from 300 to 500GB. An entire small server can be backed up on one cartridge.

ProStor RDX drives are removable drives in a cartridge that provide hard disk drive backup and restore speed combined with the removability and offsite storage property of tape cartridges. The drives are inserted into a drive dock or, alternatively, an InfiniVault autoloader, when needed.

ProStor leads this market with IDC giving it a 90 percent unit share, courtesy of OEM deals with Dell, Imation and Tandberg Data. There are in excess of 75,000 RDX users world-wide.

RDX cartridges now span a capacity range from 80GB through to 500GB and all RDX drive docks support all capacity drives, unlike tape drives which have format generation limitations.
