QLogic's NIC + HBA for Sun

Cutting edge blade technology
Neat: QLogic has produced a combined Ethernet NIC and Fibre Channel HBA for Sun blade servers.
Its called the QEM3472 ExpressModule, OEM'd by Sun as the StorageTek Dual 4 Gb Fibre Channel Dual GbE ExpressModule Host Bus Adapter - it just rattles off the tongue, doesn't it? This clever card contains two 4Gbit/s Fibre Channel ports and two 1Gbit/s Ethernet ports. Previously Sun blade users would need two separate cards to provide the same number of ports.
Sun's Mike McNerney, director of x64 Blade Systems, said: “The card is ideal for I/O rich applications like virtualisation, allowing fewer I/O cards and reduced service requirements.”
More details in the press release.
