HP production ramp costs

Disk subsystem supplier Dot Hill expects to make a bigger than foreseen loss in its current quarter, Q2 08.

It expects to make a loss per share of $0.12 - $0.16 whereas it previously forecast a loss of $0.07 - $0.01. It has found customers buying less -expensive product and has spent more than it thought it would to build up production for its latest OEM customer, HP. This is leading to a decrease in cash and cash equivalents.

It still expects revenue in the $66 million to $70 million range for the quarter.

Dot Hill's first quarter 2008 results showed a net loss marginally up on the year-ago quarter and net revenues marginally down and a loss per share of $0.13. Things are not getting better.
