Addonics Technologies has announced a hard drive kit that allows users to use any SATA hard drive as a 256-bit AES hardware encrypted removable disk. You are no longer restricted to buying a full disk encryption Seagate or, from yesterday, Hitachi GST drive.

The 256-bit AES hardware encryption incorporated inside Addonics' Diamond Cipher enclosure is the most secure storage solution available today, secure enough to protect classified information up to the 'TOP SECRET' level.

The Diamond Cipher enclosure is the first enclosure solution to provide native SATA encryption on the fly with no detectable performance degradation to the hard drive though a simple encryption key.

Encrypting and decrypting is as simple as opening a door with the cipher key. The Diamond Cipher drive kit is 100 percent operating system transparent for easy integration into any computing environment.

Addonics also offers a wide assortment of IO converters, cables and accessories to give the Diamond drive enclosure and cradle unlimited connection and installation possibilities. The flexibility, compatibility, and adaptive features of the Diamond Cipher drive kit enable users to start with the minimum components they need, then add other storage components as their application grows.

The Diamond Drive Cartridge system, model DCDCS256S, lists for $139. It comes with Diamond Cipher drive enclosure, a Diamond drive cradle that mounts into a 5¼-inch drive bay and a pair of 256-bit AES cipher keys. It is an ideal package for installing a hot swap removable hard drive system into a PC, server or equipment.
