Seagate closing N. Ireland Limavaddy plant five weeks early
posted on 10 July 2008 18:17
Seagate is closing its hard disk drive substrate plant in Limavaddy, N. Ireland, five weeks early but paying employees right up until the originally scheduled closing date.
The plant will now close on September 25th instead of at the end of October as Seagate will then have enough substrate for its needs, and there is no need to continue manufacturing at Limavaddy in the first fiscal 2009 quarter which begins then.
The company has recently announced an additional $228 million investment at its Londonderry, N. Ireland, read/write head plant.
