Open the POD bay doors Hal

Following Sun's Blackbox lead, HP has announced its own containerized datacenter, the POD or Performance-Optimized Data Center.
The idea is the same as Sun's; enable customers to rapidly and more easily build out data centers by using Lego-like container building blocks crammed with servers, storage and networking gear, cooling technology, and power and data line hookup points.
HP says its POD:-
- Supports a wide variety of HP and third-party technology,
- Has greater density than competitive offerings by supporting more than 3,500 compute nodes, or 12,000 large-form-factor hard drives, in a 40-foot shipping container,
- Delivers the equivalent of 4,000-plus square feet of typical data center capacity that ships within six weeks of the customer’s order.
The PODs have flexible configurations optimized for power or density, and HP POD Infrastructure Services (HP PIS) to help in assessment, preparation and deployment services. HP also offers data center design and planning services.
Open the POD bay doors Hal, and let's have a look inside....
