Release: SOLUTION TECHNOLOGY TO HOLD FCOE TRAINING SEMINAR IN LONDON
posted on 23 July 2008 12:01
Ringwood, UK, 23rd July 2008 – Solution Technology, one of the UK’s premier providers of training courses in storage networking technologies, today announced its first course aimed at IT professionals looking to learn about the latest developments in Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) technology.
The three-day seminar will take place in London from 16th until 18th September and will be hosted by Solution Technology’s Director of Education and Partner Robert W. Kembel, developer of the industry-leading content of this course. Kembel is also one of the original developers of the FCoE standard and author of a number of highly-respected reference books on Fibre Channel. This seminar will provide an ideal opportunity to obtain a unique, up-to-date insight into this exciting new technology, poised to have a dramatic impact on the future of the storage market.
The FCoE standard has seen much activity in recent months and more is to come. Recently the Fibre Channel T11.3 standards working group reaffirmed its intention to have an FCoE draft standard ready for internal committee review next month, a significant step towards technical stability and the completion of the FCoE standard.
Vendors are also aggressively working on this technology, with Cisco, CA, Data Direct, Dot Hill, EMC, FalconStor, Finisar, HP, Infortrend, LSI, MiraLink, Microsoft, NetApp, Overland Data, Promise, QLogic and Symantec all having test driven their solutions on an FCoE network at the recent QLogic FCoE Test Drive event in San Diego.
Looking ahead, the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Lab (IOL) will be hosting an FCoE plugfest in September to offer vendors the opportunity to perform interoperability testing of emerging technologies in a controlled multi-vendor environment.
‘Since FCoE was first announced there has been great interest from vendors, resellers and end users alike because of the significant potential this standard has to ease storage resources management and ultimately reduce costs,’ said Neil Edmunds, Technical Director at Solution Technology. ‘As a result we have seen a high degree of requests for training on this technology because once it comes out end users will not want to spend time learning how to use it; they want to plug it and play with it. Thanks to our proven background in the storage networking industry, Solution Technology is ideally positioned to provide this training.’
