Deduplication vendor Sepaton guarantees users a 40:1 deduplication of Exchange data after 30 days use of its product or it will supply the extra disk drives needed free.

The promise comes as part of the FastStart Deduplication Package for Symantec NetBackup environments. It features a fully configured, ready-to-install, 20TB appliance that includes Sepaton's S2100-ES2 virtual tape library, DeltaStor data deduplication software, and one year of technical support.

The grid architecture of the S2100-ES2 allows users to grow by adding up to four Sepaton replication engine (SRE) nodes or expanding capacity up to 1.6 PB of usable disk capacity.

Asim Zaheer, Sepaton's marketing VP, said: "When it comes to data deduplication claims, it is increasingly difficult for buyers to separate fact from fiction. Sepaton believes so strongly in our product capabilities that we have unveiled the only dedupe guarantee in the industry. The goal of this aggressive program is to reduce risk for buyers and simplify the introduction of data deduplication technology into the enterprise.”

Sepaton can do this because it has application-aware deduplication technology.
